Tuesday, April 18, 2017 - The 20-hits was easily the JV Cardinals highest output in two years using them to fuel the 19-7 victory. The Cardinals needed all 20 of those hits as Scanlan kept the game in reach with seven of their own hits, until LSA posted nine runs in the top of the seventh for the final margin.
Nicholas Rivera, just installed as the lead-off hitter, responded going 4 for 6 with 3R and an RBI, while also pitching two innings of scoreless relief. Carlos Flores went the first four innings and gets credited for the win and Cristobal Rivera also chipped in with an inning of relief work to accompany his two hits and two RBIs.
However, this game was all about the bats as Omar Salcedo went 3 for 6, Franklin Olivares 3 for 5, 5 RBI's; Angel Espinal 3 for 6, with two RBI's including an opposite field ground rule double blast that clear the 80-foot fence in right field. Sean Coles had three hits and two RBI's.
The JV Cardinals play Scanlan again this Thursday at East River Park Field #6 at Houston Street @ 1pm.
