Maria’s 1-Hitter Leads Varsity Baseball Past Cathedral Prep

Wednesday, April 19, 2017 –  Danny Maria was efficient and quick, needing just 77 pitches to lead the La Salle Cardinals to a 6-1 CHSAA ‘A’ division victory over Cathedral Prep at East River Park. With the win, La Salle improves to 3-3 overall and 3-1 in the division.

The Cardinals jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first on a booming first pitch double to left center by Angel Fernandez-Diaz that scored Julian Nieves (1 for 2, R, K, BB) who was on with a walk and running on the pitch.  However, the hitting star of today’s game was right fielder, Christian Cueto, who went 2 for 3, 2B, 2 RBI.

Maria was stellar picking up his second win of the season while his ERA dropped to 1.50, his final line for the game 7 IP, 1H, 1R, 0ER, 4K, 0BB.
