Summer at La Salle
Greetings from the East Village! My name is Tom Fitzmaurice and I am the new President of La Salle Academy, following in the footsteps of Brother Thomas Casey who retired at the end of June. My first month here has been a busy one, beginning with a Lasallian retreat at Manhattan College, immersing myself in all things La Salle, and working with our talented staff to prepare for the 2023-24 academic year.
I had the opportunity to meet many of our incoming freshmen as they participated in the Cardinal Readiness Program which concluded on July 27th. We look forward to partnering with the Class of 2027 over the next four years and developing the next generation of La Salle Alumni. I had the pleasure of meeting so many supporters of our school from alumni and local communities. They have graciously welcomed me and offered their support, for which I am grateful. As we celebrate La Salle’s 175th anniversary, I look forward to meeting all the La Salle faithful throughout the year.

We concluded another successful Cardinal Readiness Program! Several incoming 9th graders participated, preparing for their transition to high school. We are excited to watch them grow on their journey as the newest members of the La Salle family.
Rising Seniors Jayden L. ’24 and Rowan T. ’24 represented La Salle Academy at the 2023 Lasallian Youth Assembly in Philadelphia. Students traveled from around the U.S., Puerto Rico, and Italy to attend.
Dr. Tom Fitzmaurice, President and Br. Richard Galvin, Campus Minister recently represented La Salle Academy at the Buttimer Institute at Manhattan College.
Kerry Conroy, Principal and Br. Richard Galvin, Campus Minister attended the District of Eastern North America (DENA) Chapter & Mission Assembly.

Around Athletics
Our very own Jerome Pannell, Assistant Principal and Athletic Director was selected to coach at the 2023 NCAA College Basketball Academy in Memphis, Tennessee. Coaches were selected by the National Association of Basketball Coaches in coordination with the NCAA.
