La Salle Academy’s September Recap
September saw the return of the entire La Salle community and we officially welcomed the Class of 2027. The Mass of the Holy Spirit marked the start of the school year as La Salle Academy never forgets that we are always in the Holy presence of God. Please read below for some of the highlights of our opening month for the 2023-2024 school year!
The 175th academic year at La Salle Academy officially commenced! Students were eager to return and continue their experience as Lasallians. Freshmen were able to hear from David Harney ’82, FDNY (pictured above) as he shared an inspiring message for the Class of 2027. Additionally, students are seen enjoying their first lunch period on brand new tables and chairs in the cafeteria. Thank you to our generous alumni, benefactors, and community members for making this happen.
Students embraced the blessings of worship and community at our Mass of the Holy Spirit to celebrate the 175th anniversary since our founding.
Students with Dr. Carmen Orama, Ph.D., Language Chairperson celebrated the first day of Hispanic Heritage Month. Additionally, our Spanish and Hispanic Culture Club students enjoyed traditional cuisine from restaurants around the neighborhood.
Br. Richard Galvin, Campus Minister led members of the La Salle community for a prayer service in The Frank and Imelda Moeslein Chapel for the twelve alumni who lost their lives during the tragedy of September 11, 2001. We will always remember and keep those who lost their lives and their families in our prayers.
International Lasallian Days of Peace runs from September 21 to October 21. The theme this year is “Peace Within Our Reach.” Teachers are integrating this theme into various disciplines throughout the month. We unite to pray for peace around the world, in our families, neighborhoods, schools, and in our own hearts.
