JV Baseball Claims 3rd Straight City Championship
Friday, May 19, 2017 – La Salle’s JV Baseball team was dominant with a 10-0 five inning knockout over Monsignor Scanlan to capture the 2017 CHSAA “A” Division JV Championship in front of a lively home crowd at East River Park. The win gives the JV Cardinals back-to back to back City Championships (2015, 2016, 2017) and finalizes their 2017 overall record at 9-4 (overall) and 9-1 (regular season champs) in league. Carlos Flores was superb, tossing the five-inning complete game on 82 pitches, striking out seven while giving up only two hits.
La Salle JV got on the board in the bottom of the first posting two on and RBI single by Roberto Liz and an error on Scanlan’s left fielder. The final margin of victory came in the bottom of the fifth as La Salle sent up eight batters, plating five runs without the benefit of a hit and scoring the Championship Winning run on a long fly ball to center field of the bat of Angel Espinal, that scored Kirean Garlick from third and sending the Home crowd into a joyous celebration.
Congratulations to all of the players, coaches and parents for an outstanding season!
