Class of 2017 Graduates with Stellar Numbers
June 6, 2017 – La Salle Academy’s Class of 2017 exceeded expectations this year by achieving a nearly 100% graduation rate, 100% college acceptance rate, and to top it all off, the 74 students who make up La Salle’s senior class received approximately $15.2 million in scholarships and grants, which is over quadruple the amount of scholarship monies that were received in 2016.
Scholarship, Grant Monies More Than Quadruple to $15.2M from 2016
This fantastic feat comes on the heels of La Salle’s second waitlisted class in a row, the varsity basketball team’s first-ever New York State Federation B Division Championship title, and most recently, a CHSAA A Division City Championship title for the varsity baseball team. These extraordinary accomplishments are among many other outstanding triumphs happening at the East Village high school this year.
La Salle’s seniors graduated and celebrated their magnificent achievements on Thursday, June 1st at St. Patrick’s Cathedral. “Today, as you cross the proverbial threshold of high school graduation, yet again, St. John Baptist de La Salle, too, is victorious, as he manages again to ‘win’ the minds and hearts of young men for Christ and has helped them win the battle for excellence and success in life,” said Dr. Catherine Guerriero, President of La Salle Academy, as she addressed the graduates and their families.
This year celebrates 169 years of Catholic education in the Lasallian tradition in New York City.
