JV Cardinals Score Late for Victory over Nazareth
Tuesday, April 11, 2017 – In their first meeting since last year’s CHSAA A Division JV Championship game, the La Salle JV Cardinals (1-2 Overall; 1-0 League) scored an 8-6 victory over Nazareth in their first league game of the year at American Legion Field in Brooklyn, NY.
After jumping to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first, La Salle let Nazareth right back in giving up three in the bottom of the frame on errors. The rest of the game was a terse affair with late lead changes, heads up base running, clutch hits, a late inning rally and shut down relief performance for the win.
Tristen Frederick picked up the win in relief of starter Carlos Flores who reached the new max-pitch count limit. Roberto Liz went 1 for 2 with 2 RBI and 2 runs scored to lead the team at the plate but for his shutdown performance in the bottom of the sixth while also going 1 for 4 with a triple.
The JV Cardinals play again today, April 12th vs Packer Collegiate Institute at American Legion, first pitch is slated for 4:30pm.
