La Salle Academy’s June Recap

Unique accommodations and creative solutions remained with us throughout the 2020-2021 school year. We concluded with a beautiful graduation ceremony at Saint Patrick’s Cathedral on 3 June and a successful hybrid fundraiser at the Tribeca Rooftop on 24 June. In each instance, we honored the achievements of distinguished men.

The college destinations of the members of the Class of 2021 can be found on our website and the link to the video of the graduation ceremony is here. Both our valedictorian, Hunter C. (top left), and our salutatorian, Jeremiah P. (top right), earned academic scholarships to Villanova University and Fairfield University, respectively. A photo of the graduates in the pews at Saint Patrick’s Cathedral is shown at bottom left and Senior Class President, Cliff C., poses with me and Ms. Conroy after receiving his diploma in the photo at bottom right.

At our fundraiser, on a splendid summer evening, Michael Ambrosino ’62Stephon Barnes ’97, and 43-year faculty member, Stephen Kerrigan, were honored for their generosity and service to the school. A video of the program component of the event can be viewed here.

We are pleased to present our 33rd Annual Art Expo. On this site, artwork from schools throughout New York City’s five boroughs is displayed. Students from 1st to 12th grade exhibited the imaginative and creative designs they worked on this year. Thank you to Ms. O’Mara for spearheading this event and ensuring its longevitiy continues.

Resilience and generosity, manifested by many, have brought us to this point. I am grateful for the support that was shown in diverse ways. Imagine successfully concluding a school year for which there was no playbook! Imagine hosting a benefit in the wake of a pandemic that netted over half a million dollars! At La Salle, thanks to hundreds of amazing people, we did it. Praise God!

As we exit our COVID cocoon, we go forth with lessons learned, eager to continue the good work that defines our mission at La Salle Academy. I offer prayers and best wishes that you enjoy a healthy, safe, and relaxing summer.
