La Salle Baseball Soars to 14-1 Victory at Msgr. Scanlan
Wednesday, April 26, 2017 – The La Salle Academy varsity baseball team used a balanced attack, crafty pitching and solid defense to soar past Monsignor Scanlan 14-1 in 
five innings at Scanlan Field. Julian Nieves pitched a complete game 2-hitter with five strikeouts. Franddy Rodriguez (3 RBIs) & Adrian Santos (4 RBIs) each went 2 for 3 to help raise the Cardinals’ record to 6-3 overall and 6-1 in the CHSAA “A” division.
La Salle batted around the order in the second inning and twice rolled up six runs in the second and fifth innings, the latter of which sealed the game and was keyed by a base clearing 3-run double to left center by Adrian Santos and an opposite field ground-rule double by catcher Billy Gonzalez.
Scanlan scratched across a run in the bottom of the third but that was it as Julian Nieves 
(2H, 1R, 1ER, 4BB, 5K) worked thru his mechanics to squelch any additional runs from crossing the plate.
