La Salle Senior Participates in Regional Poetry Out Loud Competition
On Tuesday, January 31st, senior Nelson Millwood became the first La Salle Academy student to participate in the Regional Poetry Out Loud Competition, the second round of this national poetry contest. The competition was held at the SUNY Global Center in the Global Classroom.
Millwood performed three different poems in a series of three rounds on Tuesday evening, competing against schools such as Horace Mann School and Brooklyn Technical High School. Cheering in the crowd were Millwood’s teachers, friends and La Salle’s Vice President of Academic/Student Affairs, Principal Conroy. Although Millwood did not advance to the next round of the Poetry Out Loud competition, he laid the groundwork for future La Salle Academy students to enter this competition. The next Poetry Out Loud Competition at La Salle will be in April. Congratulation to Nelson Millwood ’17 on his tremendous work.
