From The Office of The President

August 1, 2024

Dear La Salle Academy Community:

I am delighted to announce that Ms. Nicole Freeman has assumed the role of Principal at La Salle Academy.

Ms. Freeman is an integral member of our school community, serving with dedication and distinction as an outstanding Assistant Principal for Academics for the past two years. With a keen, proven focus on curriculum development, staff training, and community formation she has already been an essential part of our administrative team. Ms. Freeman’s unwavering positivity permeates throughout our school halls and is the cornerstone to our foundation; we are an academically challenging and nurturing college preparatory high school believing strongly in belongingness and service to others. Ms. Freeman stated, “I discovered my love for teaching during the first year I taught summer school in 2001 at La Salle Academy on 2nd Street and 2nd Avenue. From the first day, I knew I wanted to be an educator. I continued my educational career at my Alma Mater, a Lasallian school, for 20 years. I served as a History teacher, Dean of Discipline and Track & Field coach. One of the core values of a Lasallian education is ‘Enter to Learn and Leave to Serve’. These words have shaped my life and continue to shape my beliefs on education. I believe our young men enter our school to receive a challenging and rigorous Catholic education while learning the strength of brotherhood and serving communities near and far. It is imperative that our young men understand the value and importance of a good education and being a man of character and strength. I am so excited, honored, and blessed to be the Principal of La Salle Academy because I have an opportunity to live out our school’s Mission and to inspire young men to ‘Enter to Learn and Leave to Serve’. In addition, I will continue to support and serve our faculty, students and families at La Salle. I am looking forward to a great school year to come!”

Ms. Freeman holds a Master’s Degree in Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Scranton University. She received her Bachelor of Arts from Trinity College of Vermont in History and Psychology. Her commitment to cultivating a welcoming, nurturing, and inclusive environment for all students and families has been exemplary during her years at La Salle Academy. Her dedication to these principles will extend to her new role as Principal, enriching the entire school community. Her steadfastness and deep understanding of our goals and objectives, her commitment to Catholic education, and her visionary leadership skills ensure that La Salle Academy will continue to progress and thrive under her guidance. Ms. Freeman is an exceptional leader, and she has already demonstrated her loyalty to the care and well-being of our students during our Cardinal Summer Readiness Program.

Please join me in congratulating Ms. Nicole Freeman as she begins her new position as La Salle Academy’s Principal.

Sincerely,

Candace D. Hammonds
President
