A Taste of Italy

La Salle Academy’s students had the pleasure of eating at Grotta Azzurra Ristorante, one of the finest restaurants in Little Italy on Mulberry Street.

Eight students were chosen to participate in this La Salle in the City site, including Joshua Mediavilla ’17,
Jancalo Mediavilla ’17, Gabriel Montez ’17, Adrian Corbin ’15, Brian Sanchez ’18, Arthur Escobar ’18,
Liam Henry Moran ’15, and Matthew Garcia ’18.

The boys’ dining experience began with appetizers, including fried calamari, baked clams, potato croquettes and rice balls. During the second course, four different types of pasta were served with various sauces, including alfredo, vodka, bolognese, and marinara. For the entrée, each student ordered his own meal such as chicken parmigiana, shrimp scampi and chicken scapariello. The evening concluded with traditional Italian desserts, including tiramisu and ricotta cheesecake.

It was a wonderful experience as the boys broke bread together and conversed over a great meal with La Salle President, Dr. Catherine Guerriero and proud alumnus and board member Carl Gambino ’76.
